Yauatcha: another quickie
I am in London for the weekend and am currently sitting in a smoky Internet cafe off Leicester Square. Although I already stuffed myself to capacity after totally overordering at a pretty good place on Edgeware Road called Iran: The Restaurant, I was pondering a quick trip (if only to peer in the windows) to Yauatcha, a fancy-pants dim sum experience in Soho. While searching for their address, I stumbled across this review by Giles Coren.
I know nothing of this man and have read nothing else that he has written, ever. But at this very moment, as I sit hunched in this smoky Internet cafe in which one can hear strains of Olivia Newton John entreating us all to Get Physical over the whoosh of the espresso machine, he has become my own personal hero. And besides benefiting from his wonderfully bilious sense of humo(u)r, he has taught me a new word: trollocks.

Thanks for introducing me to Giles Coren. His writing is brilliant. Now I remember why I need to go to London again...
There's something about that Brit humor, isn't there? Check out a really funny blog by a Brit -- www.gapingvoid.com. Warning -- a few 4 letter words every now and then, but wickedly funny.
Amy - I know, I love how snarky he is!
Janice - thanks for sending that link. His site is really interesting...love those cartoons too.
my personal favorite: "a load of old tonk". if only i had the cajones to write that honestly, not to mention the talent to write that brilliantly.
